We are very aware at AMD that many would like us to have an impact factor, and that it is frustrating why one has not come out yet, especially given the citation rate of AMD research articles. In simple terms, a journal’s impact factor is calculated from taking all citations to a journal in a given year (e.g., 2019) and dividing by the number of scholarly articles published in the two prior years (e.g., 2017 and 2018). You can read more about the calculation of impact factors here and here.
Nevertheless, AMD articles are in fact being well cited. In 2019, each research article from 2017 and 2018 was cited on average 3.74 times, and each FTE was cited on average 6.8 times. These numbers would place AMD in the top 12%-18% of all journals on the Management list. While this is not confirmed by Clarivate Analytics and thus unofficial, AOM tracks these numbers quite closely and we are confident that when AMD eventually receives its official impact factor, it will be quite positive.
