The Academy of Management receives submissions to six journals: Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Perspectives, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Academy of Management Discoveries, and Academy of Management Annals. Each journal is different in domain and mission. All are considered “big tent” journals and encompass a broad range of topics. Therefore, we recommend visiting each journal’s website to determine the best fit for your research, instead of sending an abstract in advance to a journal Editor. We also strongly recommend that you visit the Information for Contributors and the Style Guide for Authors documents for each journal above.
In summary, articles that make strong empirical and theoretical contributions should be submitted to Academy of Management Journal. Conceptual articles that present new theory but do not contain new evidence should be submitted to Academy of Management Review. Academy of Management Perspectives’ articles leverage management theory to understand contemporary behavioral, socioeconomic, and technological trends, highlighting their implications for the public interest or relying on a strong evidence base of empirical findings to inform public policy. Articles that advance the knowledge and practice of management learning and education should be submitted to Academy of Management Learning & Education. Articles in Academy of Management Discoveries focus on reporting novel findings or unusual empirical patterns in their particular contexts that are not adequately explained by current theory and/or can play a critical role in the development and testing of new theory. Academy of Management Annals articles summarize and/or challenge established assumptions and concepts, pinpoint problems, inspire discussions, and illuminate areas for further study.
Please note:
