How were the updated Code and standards developed?

The 2023 updated version of the Code was overseen by the Ethics Committee of the Board of Governors on the recommendation of the Ethics Education Committee and with contributions from the Ethics Ombuds Committee and the Ethics Adjudication Committee. The Board of Governors voted to adopt the updated Code at its August 2023 board meeting. Many of the changes were adapted from the codes of other professional associations whose principles and standards are similar to ours. In this sense, the updated Code is not new.
